Effects of different site conditions on the growth and photosynthetic characteristics of two species of Phoebe seedlings
[Objective]To understand the growth amount and photosynthetic characteristics of Phoebe, the influence of site conditions on plant growth and developmental habits was further investigated.[Method]The three-year container seedlings of Phoebe sheareri and P.neurantha were transplanted to Mi-shi,Songzi and Taihu Lakes respectively, and their plant height, ground diameter and number of shoots,Pn,Tr and chlorophyll content were measured, compared and analyzed.[Result]The high average growth of P.sheareri and P.neurantha seedlings planted in Mishi was 59 cm and 42.3 cm,respectively. The average growth of ground diameter was 0.458 cm and 0.588 cm,while the high average growth of P.sheareri and P.neurantha seedlings planted in Taihu Lake was 7.733 cm and 7.067 cm.The average growth rate of ground diameter was 0.212 cm and 0.208 cm,respectively, which showed that the two kinds of Phoebe plants had the best growth condition in Mishi and the worst growth condition in Taihu Lake. The growth rate of P.sheareri was faster than that of P.neurantha.Through the correlation analysis between the two kinds of Phoebe plants and soil chemical properties,it can be concluded that the plants have the highest cor-relation coefficient for nitrogen and phosphorus in the soil. The net photosynthetic rate, transpiration, water efficiency, leaf nitrogen content and δ15N of P.sheareri and P.neurantha are susceptible to short-term influ-ences of external factors such as soil fertilization, while chlorophyll and δ13C are the accumulation of long-term growth of plants.[Conclusion]The growth of P.sheareri and P.neurantha planted in Mishi is the best,Taihu Lake is the worst, and the growth rate of P.sheareri is faster than that of P.neurantha, but P.neurantha is more suitable for growing in a strong light environment.Leaf chlorophyll and δ13C can be used to preliminarily assessment of the growth of Phoebe plants.
