Advance in mapping of leaf stripe-resistant genes in barley
Barley leaf stripe is a worldwide epidemic disease caused by Pyrenophora graminea, and it is one of the most common and serious diseases in barley production areas in China, particularly in the Yangtze River basin and Hexi Corridor. The research demonstrated that the utilization of resistant varieties were the most effective, economical, and safe measure to control stripe disease. This article provided a comprehen-sive review of the research progress made in understanding the pathogens and symptoms of leaf stripe, the screening of resistant germplasm resources, the molecular mechanisms underlying plant disease resistance, and the identification of disease resistance genes.Additionally,it highlighted the significance of identifying leaf stripe resistance genes and their potential applications in molecular breeding for disease resistance.
