Effects of nanoscale zero-valent iron on fruit quality and mineral element content of Pinot Noir grape
[Objective]The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of different concentra-tions of nano-zero-valent iron on fruit quality and mineral element content of Pinot Noir wine grapes through foliar spraying during growth and development, offering insights for the judicious application of nano-zero-valent iron fertilizer to enhancing wine grape quality in the Hexi Corridor.[Method]Pinot Noir wine grapes from Yinuo Winery in Wuwei City,Gansu Province served as the experimental material.Five different concentrations of nano-zero-valent iron fertilizer spray treatments,T1(5 mg/L),T2(10 mg/L),T3(15 mg/L),T4(20 mg/L)and T5(25 mg/L),along with a control group sprayed with clear water(CK)were utilized.[Result]The results indicated that the application of 15 mg/L nano-zero-valent iron fertilizer sig-nificantly increased the individual grain weight, total soluble sugar, glucose, and sucrose content of grape fruits.Compared with CK,the levels of quinic acid, malic acid, and tartaric acid in grape fruits decreased across all treatments.Spraying 15 mg/L nano-zero-valent iron notably boosted the nitrogen(N)and iron(Fe)content in the leaves and branches of Pinot Noir grapes. While the levels of N,potassium(K),manga-nese(Mn),zinc(Zn),copper(Cu),and magnesium(Mg)initially increased and then decreased, phosphorus(P)and calcium(Ca)content exhibited a gradual decline.[Conclusion]The nano-zero-valent iron fertilizer with a concentration of 15 mg/L significantly enhanced the physiological quality of grape fruits and in-creased mineral element content in grape leaves and branches to varying degrees. However, the application of nano-zero-valent iron fertilizer led to a decline in phosphorus(P)and calcium(Ca)levels.Overall, the op-timal spraying concentration for Pinot Noir grape varieties in the Hexi Corridor was determined to be 15 mg/L.
