Effects of Oral Administration Maxingshigan Powder on Serum Indexes of BRD Yak Calves
This study investigated the therapeutic effects of Maxingshigan powder on bovine respiratory disease(BRD)and its effects on serum oxidative stress indexes and inflammatory indexes,so as to provide a theoretical basis for clinical application.12 yak calves with BRD symptoms were selected and given Maxingshigan powder at 0.75 g/kg dose in warm water once a day for 6 days, and 5 healthy calves were fed normally as the control. On the 0,3 and 6 days of medication, the clinical symptoms of yak calves were recorded and scored according to WI scoring table, and blood was collected from jugular vein. The serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),lysozyme(LYZ),interleukin-6(IL-6),lactoferrin(LTF)and serum amyloid A(SAA)were determined after centrifugation. Results showed that WI score on the 6th day after medication was significantly lower than that on the 3rd day(P<0.05),the cure rate was 83.3%on the 6th day after medication. After 6 days of treatment, the serum concentrations about anti-inflammatory and antioxidant indexes of TNF-α,LZM,IL-6,LTF,SAA in sick group were not significantly different from those in healthy group(P>0.05).In conclusion,Maxingshigan powder can effectively improve the BRD symptoms of yak calves, relieve the inflammatory response and oxidative stress symptoms, and has certain reference value for the treatment of BRD in yaks. This method is suitable for the treatment of respiratory diseases in yaks and related herbivores in alpine area.
