This paper introduced some successful cases of operating suburban trains on existing railways to analyze the basic conditions for utilizing existing railway infrastructure to operate such services.Then the implementation strategies for running suburban trains on existing lines were discussed,including how to select suitable existing lines,determine the renovation plans and technical standards for existing railways,and organize passenger transport and the scientific layout of station passenger facilities.
