By reviewing relevant literature,this paper conducts overview of research on the safety of Angelica sinensis for medicinal use and consumption,including its toxic materia medica,consumption history,clinical adverse reactions,and toxicity experiments.It is found that Angelica sinensis has a long history of application in traditional medicinal diet and food additives,without safety problems reported.There were occasional allergic reaction,photo-sensitivity reaction and adverse reaction of reproductive system induced by Angelica sinensis.Its fluid extract,volatile oil and polysaccharide complex have certain toxic reactions,so the dosage and time of use need to be strictly evalua-ted.Angelica sinensis is a dual-use medicical and food substance with high safety.This study provides reference for the development of its related products.
