Study on the correlation between appearance traits and index components of Saposhnikovia Radix
Objective To explore the correlation between the appearance traits and index components of Sa-poshnikovia Radix and to provide scientific basis for the classification of commercial specifications of Saposhnikovia Radix.Methods The samples were collected from Inner Mongolia,Hebei and Heilongjiang,and the appearance characteristic indexes were observed and quantified,such as the diameter and texture.The HPLC method was used to determine the content of prim-O-glucosylcimifugin and 5-O-methylvisammioside.SPSS 22.0 statistical software was used to conduct correlation analysis on the appearance traits and the content of index components,and further com-pared the quality of the same batch with different diameters to verify the correlation between their diameters and the content of index components.Results There were great differences in the appearance traits and the content of the index components among the Saposhnikovia Radix from different regions and of different growing modes.The content of index components was significantly positively correlated with the texture(P＜0.01),but negatively correlated with the diameter,i.e.,the content of prim-O-glucosylcimifugin and 5-O-methylvisammioside in Saposhnikovia Radix with loose-texture and small diameter was higher;the correlation between root ring pattern and texture is significantly positive(P＜0.05).There was no obvious correlation between the quality of medicinal materials and its"broom-head".Conclusion There is a certain correlation between the appearance traits and the content of index compo-nents of Saposhnikovia Radix,and its quality can be predicted directly according to its diameter,texture and other characters,laying a foundation for the quality grade evaluation of Saposhnikovia Radix.
