Research on improving strength and toughness of 40Cr sinker bar
The zero-time holding quenching process of 40Cr sinker bar was researched based on the traditional quench and temper treatment.The results showed that under the technical condition of 860 ℃ heating,zero-time holding oil quenching and 550 ℃ high temperature tempering,the tensile strength was 1 086 MPa,the impact toughness at room temperature was 107.7 J/cm2 which was 25 % higher than 40Cr steel with traditional quench and temper treatment,and the metallographic structure was tempered sorbite.The austenitic grain size could be fined and the strength and toughness of 40Cr sinker bar be improved by zero-time holding quenching process,and the time in furnace and the energy consumption be also reduced.
