A brief introduction of the theories and techniques of rail grinding and their application practices were presented.The effects of rail grinding in real railway on service performance were studied.The results showed that rail grinding could improve wheel-rail contact,slow down wear and contact fatigue crack,thereby improve service performance of rail.
