The experiences and inspirations from urban geology in the United Kingdom
The geological work of United Kingdom has a long development history,and urban geological work is relatively systematic,featuring comprehensive services for urban planning and a sophisticated geological information management technology system.It mainly involves the investigation of underground space,monitoring groundwater and geothermal energy,survey of stone resources,and ecological restoration in industrial areas.By reviewing the historical context of urban geological work in the UK,summarizing the main work contents,and analyzing the practices of typical urban geological work in the UK,we put forward four suggestions for the current status of urban geological work in China,including expanding the depth and breadth of urban geological services for urban planning;improving coordination mechanisms and strengthen inter-departmental collaboration;establishing a long-term and sustainable urban resource and environmental survey and monitoring system;strengthening the construction and innovation of geological information systems.
