The Connotation of the Theory of “The Unity of Knowledge and Action”by Wang Yangming and Its Practical Significance
The Study of Yangming is a science of conscience that bases the moral conscience on the virtue,“the unity of knowledge and action”as the practice and usefulness of the acquired knowledge for the state gov-ernance as the learning purpose.The study is also known as Yangming Study of Heart or Yangming Study of Con-science,which is of great and realistic significance for the development of current society.First,it is helpful to the construction of social governance modal of the unity of theory and practice,to the establishment of a correct outlook on development,on justice and interest and on performance concept.Secondly,it is helpful to anti -corruption initiatives,integrity and honesty in governance.Finally,it promotes “unity of knowledge and prac-tice”which is beneficial to the “formation of human and culture”.President Xi Jinping pays special attention to Wang Yangming’s doctrine,especially to his view on “the unity of knowledge and action”.When he was atten-ding a discussion with some teachers and students at Academy of Chinese Culture in Guizhou University,he spoke highly of Wang Yangming and Yangming school of thought.He asked the teachers and students to find out more of his thought,to organize,promote and apply his view of “the unity of knowledge and action”thought and make it play a major role in achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.He encouraged young students to study Wang Yangming thoughts and wisdom seriously,to develop themselves into qualified personnel,to continue to improve themselves,to remove the weaknesses for perfection,and never stop on the way of ad-vancement.
