Research on the Common Prosperity Effect of Digital Empowerment
Achieving common prosperity is the common vision of all people. In the era of digital economy, digital elements have become a new driving force for achieving common prosperity.Based on the micro panel data of the China Household Finance Survey(CHFS)from 2017 to 2019,this paper constructs a common prosperity index by the A-F method based on neural network weighting, constructs a digital empowerment index by the entropy method, and uses pooled Tobit, random effect Tobit, instrumental variable conditional mixed process method,to analyze the impact of digital empowerment on common prosperity.Research shows that for every 1%increase in the individual digital empowerment index, the probability of occurrence of individual common prosperity increases by 14.9%,indicating that digital empowerment helps achieve individual common prosperity, and the common prosperity effect of digital creation dimension empowerment is much higher than that of access dimension empowerment and usage dimension empowerment, because the increase in internet penetration, most households have no significant differences in the dimensions of digital access and usage, while the differences in the use of digital technology to carry out various creative and innovative activities will become increasingly prominent. The boosting effect of digital empowerment on common prosperity is mainly reflected in the fact that digital empowerment increases the probability of households starting a business, increases the probability of households going out for non-agricultural employment, and increases the opportunities for households to obtain credit. However, the common prosperity effect of digital empowerment has heterogeneity in different levels of affluence, heterogeneity of different human capital, and heterogeneity between urban and rural areas. There is a"Matthew effect"as he boosting effect of digital empowerment is small in groups that urgently need to improve their affluent levels, while it is larger in groups with higher affluence levels.Digital empowerment contributes more to the common prosperity of low-skilled and high-skilled groups than middle-skilled groups. The common prosperity effect of digital empowerment on rural residents is greater than that of urban residents. The research in this paper expands the research scope of the common prosperity theory and provides empirical evidence for promoting the effective coupling of the digital economy and individual resources so as to enhance common prosperity.
