Participation,Locality,and Emotional Connections:an Interpretation of Guizhou"Cun BA"from the Perspective of Communication Studies
The sustained popularity of Guizhou"Cun BA"(Village Basketball Association)has garnered significant attention.Previous research has identified factors such as improving infrastructure,ethnic characteristics,and cultural traditions as key contributors to its success.However,it is important to note that while existing studies have explained the mechanism and pathways behind the popularity of Cun BA,they have not further analyzed the reasons why it has expanded beyond the southeastern region of Guizhou to capture the attention of the entire province,the country,and even overseas.In light of this,introducing the perspective of communication studies becomes crucial.From this perspective,despite in a rural area,Cun BA of Taipan Village,has become a"new media event"with the help of the current media environment and platform society,which exhibits attributes of participation,locality,and emotional connections as an interesting footnote for the"new media event".
