Women's Maternal Role Returning:The Rural Family Nurturing Pattern Change and Its Formation Mechanism from the Perspective of an Experience Survey Based on J Village in East Hubei Province
Family nurturing is an important process in the reproduction of the family and a significant way of shaping local social culture.Based on surveys conducted in rural areas of East Hubei,it was found that local farming families have developed various family nurturing models including same-generation care, intergenerational upbringing, and parental nurturing. With the"all-full-time worker"household management, the decreasing size of family structures, and the modern transformation of families due to urbanization,an increasing number of young mothers have started to stay at home full-time to care for their children. The underutilization of the labor force of many young women in the job market is a strategic outcome for families to achieve development goals and address educational transformation. The study reveals that collective care, emotional fulfillment, role transformation, and public support constitute the mechanisms that lead to rural migrant mothers returning to family nurturing. The return of mothers not only alleviates the challenges of intergenerational upbringing in rural families and meets the requirements of the transition in educational models for family nurturing subjects but also contributes to the stability of family relationships.
