Philosophy is Not a Discipline:reaffirming the Defense of Metaphysics
Philosophy encompasses a range of secondary specialties;however, philosophy is not a discipline-it is neither a single specialty nor a combination or aggregation of various specialties.Only by transcending its specialties can philosophy maintain itself as philosophy.Philosophy is closely related to its time;it is even a hallmark of an era. However, the very reason philosophy can signify an era is that it can transcend the malady of the times. Thus, philosophy always belongs to its time in a way that keeps a distance from it.Philosophy needs to maintain its identity by transcending specialties and times;fundamentally,it is a metaphysics oriented toward the absolute and the abyss, which are"human excess".The results of criticisms and denials of philosophy as such a metaphysics since modern times indicate that today,we have reached a point where it is necessary to defend the height and intensity of human existence through the defense of metaphysics. This fundamentally means the need to restore the status of arche, the absolute, the whole, and the void within philosophy as non-present fields that are excessive because of human.
