Effects of Solid Solution and Aging Treatment on Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of 6061 Aluminum Alloy Welded Joints
Welding tests were conducted on 6061-T6 aluminum alloy plate with thickness of 6 mm using pulsed tungsten inert gas arc welding technology, the microstructure and mechanical properties of the as-welded joint and 530 ℃ ×6h solid solution+180 ×℃3 h artificial aging treatment on the joint after weld-ing were analysis. The results showed that the strength of the heat affected zone of the as-welded joint was significantly reduced, and the minimum micro-hardness was 48 HV.Solid solution and aging treatment could strengthen the welded joint, and the micro-hardness of the heat affected zone was above 80 HV.The tensile fracture morphology was characterized by ductile fracture, compared with the as-welded joint, the toughness dimples of the fracture surface after solid solution and aging treatment were shallower and smal-ler,plasticity decreased.Solid solution and aging treatment improved the microstructure of the strengthe-ning phase in heat affected zone of joint, the equilibrium phase β-Mg2Si transformed into β″or β′phase with congruent or semi congruent, and the mechanical properties had been restored.
