Research on the Full-Process Design and Improvement of Plunger Shoe Component Closure
The closure quality of the plunger shoe component is crucial for the performance and lifespan of the plunger pump.An evaluation of the existing closure process was conducted, and improvement solutions were proposed to address the identified issues. The improved process had the following characteristics. In terms of structural design, fatigue crack resistance issues in the closure were effectively resolved through optimized transition fillets and reduced wall thickness differences. In terms of heat treatment, machining al-lowances were reserved based on carburizing layer thickness and hardness, followed by overall quenching, providing favorable plastic deformation flow lines for subsequent closure. In terms of cold working, process optimization was achieved by precise control of key factors such as roughness of the closure die cavity,tol-erances between the die cavity and shoe component, ball socket diameter and cleanliness, plunger ball head tolerances and sphericity, rolling clearance time and starting position.Detailed measurements of the plunger shoe component processed with the improved solution were conducted. The results showed that no cracks were found in the positive package closure of the plunger shoe component, with an axial clearance of not greater than 0.06,a swing angle not less than 20°,and a pull-off force above 6 500 N,meeting the tech-nical requirements for closure.
