Clinical and epidemiological characteristics of mpox cases in Jiangsu province in 2023
Objective To describe the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of mpox cases in Jiangsu province,so as to provide experience for prevention and control of the epidemics.Methods The clinical and epidemiological data of mpox in Jiangsu Province in 2023 from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention and the Epidemiological Investigation Information System were sorted and analyzed,and the time distribution map of incidence and time of reporting were drawn by Excel 2016.Thus the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of mpox in 2023 Jiangsu province were analyzed.Results The 120 mpox cases confirmed in 2023 Jiangsu province were predominantly sporadic cases.These cases were mainly reported from July to September,and the incubation period was 8.0(5.0,11.0)days.The main transmission route was male-male sexual behavior.The major characters of the patients were MSM(95.0％),young adults(21-45 years old,95.0％),unmarried(68.3％)and unemployed(49.2％).Some patients suffered from sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS(46.7％)and syphilis(23.3％).Main clinical symptoms included skin lesions(91.7％),fever(60.8％),lymph node enlargement(37.5％)and headache(22.5％).The cases were detected mainly by voluntary treatment(90.8％).The median interval from disease onset to medical treatment and the median interval from onset to diagnosis were 2.5 days and 7.0 days,respectively.Conclusions Mpox surveillance should be continuously strengthened,along with health education for MSM and other high-risk groups.
