Research Progress on Azole Resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus Efflux Pumps
Aspergillus fumigatus(A.fumigatus)is an opportunistic pathogen widely found in nature and can cause invasive aspergillosis(IA),with a high mortality rate in immunocompromised patients.Triazoles are the first-line therapy for IA,but in recent years, the number of azole-resist-ant Aspergillus fumigatus isolates is increasing worldwide, which greatly threatens the life and health of patients.Efflux pumps are composed of transmembrane proteins that can expel unwanted sub-stances out of cells, which is an important mechanism in protecting microorganisms. In addition, many studies suggest that efflux pumps can also mediate microbial drug resistance. This paper sum-marizes the recent progress on the function and regulation mechanism of the drug efflux pump of A.fumigatus, which provides a theoretical basis for the deep understanding of the resistance mecha-nism in A.fumigatus and the screening of new targets of anti-infective drugs.
