Efficacy of intravesical bacillus calmette-guerin instillation combined with 980 nm diode laser vaporization in the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer
Objective To analyze the efficacy of intravesical bacillus calmette-guerin(BCG)instillation combined with 980 nm diode laser vaporization in the treatment of non-muscle invasive blad-der cancer(NMIBC).Methods The clinical data of 110 NMIBC patients admitted to our hospital from January 2018 to March 2021 were selected,and the patients were randomly divided into observa-tion group and control group,with 55 cases in each group.Observation group was treated with diode laser vaporization and regular postoperative intravesical BCG instillation,whereas control group under-went transurethral resection of bladder tumor and regular postoperative intravesical BCG instillation.Then the recurrence rate at postoperative 6 and 12 months,the expression of serum tumor markers[soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1),dickkopf(DKK),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and fibroblast growth factor(FGF)],complication rate and quality of life were com-pared between two groups.Results At 6 and 12 months after operation,the recurrence rate of obser-vation group was significantly decreased compared with control group,the difference was statistically significant(all P<0.05).Compared with before treatment,the levels of sICAM-1,VEGF,FGF and DKK in the two groups were significantly decreased after treatment,and the observation group was low-er than the control group(all P<0.05).After operation,there was no significant difference in the in-cidence of complications between the two groups(P>0.05).After surgery,the quality of life scores of both groups were significantly higher than those before surgery,and the observation group was higher than the control group,with statistical difference between groups(all P<0.05).Conclusions Appli-cation of intravesical BCG instillation combined with 980 nm diode laser vaporization for NMIBC can reduce tumour cell viability and postoperative tumour recurrence,and improve patient quality of life,which causes fewer adverse effects and has a good safety profile.
