Interpretation and discussion of the consensus report for the management of hyperglycaemia in type 2 diabetes mellitus by issued mellitus by American Diabetes Association/European Association for the Study of Diabetes
The American Diabetes Association(ADA)/European Association for the Study of Dia-betes(EASD)updated and published the consensus report on August 8,2022.The new consensus made a systematic review of the literature,proposing 15 expert recommendations and 9 practical points combined with flow charts to standardize the management of hyperglycemia in non-pregnant adults with type 2 diabetes.The consensus report stressed the importance of physical activity behaviors(including sleep),weight man-agement,and the choice of hypoglycemic agents.It also revisits the place of insulin in hyperglycemia man-agement and updates the evidence for cardiorenal protective effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibi-tors and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists.
