Apoptosis is a kind of programmed cell death that facilitates cell turnover, normal function of the immune system, and embryonic development.Apoptosis is mainly mediated by endogenous pathways, exogenous pathways, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and other pathways, and plays an important role in the occurrence and development of diseases.Chronic kidney disease(CKD)is a condition characterized by renal structure or functional abnormalities persisting for more than 3 months and affecting health.Apoptosis is related to CKD to some extent.Revealing the apoptosis status of different types of renal cells, such as renal endothelial cells, podocytes, renal tubular epithelial cells, glomerular mesangial cells, and renal interstitial fibroblasts,as well as apoptosis-related pathways in CKD,may provide insights into the discovery of new targets for the treatment of CKD.
