Objective To deeply understand the internship experience and feelings of junior college students majoring in elderly care and management in elderly care institutions,so as to provide reference for the improvement of the elderly care nursing personnel training system.Methods Using the descriptive phenomenological research method in qualitative research,semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight junior college students majoring in elderly care and management who were on internship at nursing homes from Quanzhou Medical College.The data were analyzed,summarized and concluded using Colaizzi's 7-step analysis method.Results Six themes were identified:sense of achievement,sense of belonging,gap between theory and clinical practice,unreasonable internship management mode,multiple emotional experiences,and changes in professional values.Conclusions Colleges and universities should further improve the teaching curriculum system,strengthen alignment with clinical practice,strengthen the standardization of clinical practice management system,utilize exemplary role models to enhance positive experiences,plan internship rotations reasonably,create a positive learning atmosphere,and jointly establish internship support system for students,and ensure the psychological well-being of students during their internships.
