Detection of Citrobacter koseri in the cystic fluid of a jawbone cyst:a case report
Citrobacter koseri is an enteric Gram-negative bacillus that belongs to the group of opportunistic pathogens, and its pathogenicity often depends on the host's immune status.Although the coexistence of jawbone cysts with Citrobacter koseri infection is relatively rare, early detection and diagnosis by oral and maxillofacial healthcare professionals can facilitate targeted treatment for patients. With the aim to provide clinical references for the diagnosis and treatment of jawbone cysts associated with Citrobacter koseri infection, this study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of a case which Citrobacter koseri was detected in the cystic fluid of a jawbone cyst, including the patient's admission status, diagnostic and treatment process, discharge situation, and follow-up outcomes. After surgical intervention and antibiotic treatment, the patient's condition was improved, and there was no recurrence during the 6-month follow-up.It indicates that the use of sensitive antibiotics post-surgery is effective for the treatment of jawbone cysts associated with Citrobacter koseri infection.
