Objective An attempt is made in this paper to explore the expression of cholesterol regulatory element binding protein 2(SREBP2),lysyl oxidase-like protein 2(LOXL2),and phosphatidylethanolamine binding protein 4(PEBP4)in primary liver cancer(referred to as liver cancer)and their correlation with clinical pathological characteristics. Methods Seventy-two patients with primary liver cancer who underwent surgical treatment at the Fourth People's Hospital of Langfang from January 2016 to December 2019 were selected as the research subjects, and their clinical data were collected. The real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression levels of SREBP2,LOXL2,and PEBP4 in liver cancer tissues. The correlation between the mRNA expression of SREBP2,LOXL2,and PEBP4 in liver cancer tissues and the clinical pathological characteristics and vascular mimicry(VM)of the patients was analyzed. The survival status of the patients with different SREBP2,LOXL2,and PEBP4 mRNA expressions in liver cancer tissues was also analyzed. Results The mRNA expression levels of SREBP2,LOXL2,and PEBP4 in liver cancer tissues were significantly higher than those in adjacent tissues(P<0.05).The mRNA expression of SREBP2,LOXL2,and PEBP4 in liver cancer tissues are correlated with the TNM staging, pathological grade, and vascular invasion of patients(P<0.05).Out of liver cancer tissues of the 72 patients,27 cases(37.50% )have VM formation. The mRNA expression levels of SREBP2,LOXL2,and PEBP4 in liver cancer tissues with VM staining positive are significantly higher than those in liver cancer tissues with VM staining negative(P<0.05).The analysis of multivariate logistic regression equation shows that high mRNA expression of SREBP2,LOXL2,and PEBP4 in liver cancer tissues are all risk factors for VM(P<0.05).The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis results show that the 3-year overall survival rates of patients with high expression of SREBP2,LOXL2,and PEBP4 mRNA in liver cancer tissues are significantly lower than those with low expression(P<0.05).Conclusion The mRNA expression of SREBP2,LOXL2,and PEBP4 are high in the liver cancer tissue of patients with primary liver cancer, and is associated with some clinical pathological features and VM formation in liver cancer cells of patients, which affect the prognosis.
