Application of organoid model in prostate cancer research and treatment
Prostate cancer(PCa)is one of the most common malignancies in men,and due to its high heterogeneity and drug resistance, general treatment cannot provide maximum benefit to patients..The prostate development of rodents is quite different from that of human. The existing 2 dimensional model cannot reproduce the unique characteristics of PCa patients. The appearance of in vitro organoid model provides a new idea for PCa research, and bridges the gap between 2 dimensional culture and in vivo model. This paper reviewed describes some existing prostate models, including 2 dimensional cell line models,patient-derived xenotransplantation models(organoid models derived from patients, circulating tumor cell, induced pluripotent stem cells)and organoid models derived from patient-derived xenotransplantation, outlined their advantages and disadvantages in the application.
