Application of"Internet Plus"-based continuing care in patients with intestinal stoma
Objective To explore the impact of continuing care based on"Internet Plus"in patients with intestinal stoma, and provide evidence for the care in these patients. Methods A total of 64 patients who underwent stoma treatment from June 2020 to December 2022 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were selected as the study partici-pants,who were allocated to a control group(n=32)and an observation group(n=32)using a random number table. The control group received routine care, while the observation group received continuing care intervention based on the routine care in the control group. At the first and third months after discharge, the nursing team members assessed the wound dur-ing follow-up visits at the stoma care clinic to determine the occurrence and types of complications and guided patients and their families to complete the Stoma Quality of Life(Stoma-QOL)and Zarit Burden Interview(ZBI)scales. Results The incidence of intestinal stoma complications in the observation group at the first and third months after discharge was signifi-cantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).At the first and third months after discharge, the subscale(social interaction, relationship with family and friends, physical and mental status)and total scores in the Stoma-QOL scale were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).At the first and third months after dis-charge,the scores of the impact of the stoma bag in the Stoma-QOL scale were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).The subscale(role burden and personal burden)and total scores in the ZBI scale for caregivers of stoma patients in the observation group at the first and third months after discharge were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).At the third month after discharge, the subscale(role burden and personal bur-den)and total scores in the ZBI scale for caregivers in both groups were significantly lower than those at the first month after discharge(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of continuing care based on"Internet Plus"in patients with intestinal stoma has marked effects, including reducing the incidence of complications, raising patients'quality of life, and reducing the burden on caregivers of stoma patients, holding promise for a wider application.
