With the increasing incidence and mortality rates of cancer in China, the caregiving burden for caregivers of cancer patients has gained more attention. Here,we found, through questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews, that the main needs of caregivers of cancer patients in caregiving burden included obtaining rest time, promoting family communication, relieving negative emotions, and acquiring knowledge and skills.A practical intervention strategy combining respite care with social work was employed to address these needs.Volunteers were organized and trained to provide respite care for cancer patients, thereby temporarily relieving the time pressures on family caregivers.Individual and group social work, based on the theory of enhancing personal empowerment and social support,by promoting the personal caregiving capabili-ties and confidence of family caregivers, and constructing and strengthening the internal social support network within the family, the goal of alleviating caregiving burden is finally achieved. The practical strategy of"Respite Care + Social Work"has positive significance in addressing the caregiving burden of caregivers of cancer patients and holds promise for application in related fields.
