Application of sponge turning pad combined with pressure ulcer risk quantitative assessment nursing in long-term bedridden patients with hemiplegia after stroke
Objective This paper aims to explore the application effectiveness of the sponge turning pad combined with pres-sure ulcer risk quantitative assessment nursing intervention in long-term bedridden patients with hemiplegia after stroke,to provide evidence for nursing intervention schemes for these patients. Methods A total of 110 long-term bedridden patients with hemiplegia after stroke who visited Beijing Shijitan Hospital,Capital Medical University from May 2020 to July 2022 were selected and assigned to a study group and a control group using a random number table, with 55 cases in each group.Patients in the control group received routine nursing interventions, while those in the study group received nursing interven-tions using the sponge turning pad combined with pressure ulcer risk quantitative assessment. The Braden pressure ulcer risk assessment scores before and after intervention and the incidence of pressure ulcers after intervention were compared be-tween the two groups. The bilateral limb function before and after intervention was evaluated using the Stroke Impairment Assessment Set(SIAS),the comfort condition before and after intervention was assessed using the General Comfort Ques-tionnaire(GCQ),and the quality of life before and after intervention was assessed using the Stroke Specific Quality of Life Scale(SS-QOL).Results The Braden scores of patients in the study group after intervention were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The pressure ulcer grades during hospitalization in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group(Z=0.250,P=0.040);the incidence of pressure ulcers during hospitalization in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group[16.36%(9/55)vs.36.36%(20/55);x2=5.666,P=0.017].No statistically significant difference was observed in SIAS scores between the two groups before intervention(P>0.05);the SIAS scores of both groups after intervention were significantly higher than those before intervention, and the scores of the study group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).No statistically significant difference was found in GCQ scores between the two groups before intervention(P>0.05);the GCQ scores of both groups after intervention were significantly higher than those before intervention, and the scores of the study group were significant-ly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).No significant difference was noted in SS-QOL scores between the two groups before intervention(P>0.05);the SS-QOL scores of both groups after intervention were significantly higher than those before intervention, and the scores of the study group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Sponge turning pad combined with pressure ulcer risk quantitative assessment nursing can effec-tively reduce the risk of pressure ulcer occurrence in long-term bedridden patients with hemiplegia after stroke, promote limb function, and strengthen comfort and quality of life, which is beneficial for patients'prognosis and rehabilitation.
