Influencing factors of post-stroke sleep disorders in the elderly and advances in pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments
Stroke is a common neurological disease,who are the primary affected population.Elderly stroke patients are prone to sleep disorders,manifesting as hypersomnia,insomnia,and sleep-disordered breathing,which adversely affect neu-rological recovery and markedly impact the quality of life.Previous studies have shown that emotional state,physiological condition,medications,diseases,and comorbidities can all lead to sleep disorders following a stroke.Treatment options for elderly post-stroke patients with sleep disorders need to consider disease status,safety,and medical burden comprehensive-ly.This article reviews the influencing factors of sleep disorders post-stroke in the elderly and the treatment options,aiming to provide a reference for the diagnosis and treatment of post-stroke sleep disorders in the elderly.
