Research progress on assessment tools for adolescent cyberbullying in China and globally
Adolescents are considered digital natives, and cyberbullying has emerged as a new public health issue in China, markedly impacting the health of young people.Currently, research on cyberbullying predominantly focuses on adolescents. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the assessment tools of cyberbullying and classifies these tools into three cate-gories based on the different roles in cyberbullying:unidirectional tools for either perpetrators or victims, bidirectional tools for both perpetrators and victims, and tridirectional tools for perpetrators, victims, and bystanders. The aim is to offer guidance for researchers in the selection of appropriate tools for evaluating cyberbullying. The literature review indicates that the definitions and boundaries of cyberbullying are not yet unified.Existing assessment tools are all self-reporting and lack u-niversally accepted standards, which affects the comparability and accuracy of research results to some extent.Future re-search needs to employ various measurement methods for cross-validation to enhance the reliability and validity of results. Moreover,an in-depth exploration of the experiences and psychological responses of participants in cyberbullying is warran-ted to develop targeted interventions and protect the healthy growth of adolescents.
