Application effect of continuous nursing intervention in elderly patients undergoing laparoscopic radical surgery for colorectal cancer
Objective To explore the application effect of continuous nursing intervention in elderly patients undergoing lapa-roscopic radical surgery for colorectal cancer, aiming to provide a reference for clinical treatment. Methods From June 2021 to May 2023,78 patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) who received elective laparoscopic radical surgery in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery of our hospital were selected as research subjects.Patients were randomly assigned to a control group and an observation group, with 39 cases in each group. The control group received routine nursing care, while the ob-servation group received continuous nursing intervention in addition to routine care. The Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) scores were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention (the intervention ended at discharge). The postoperative recovery time of gastrointestinal function (time to first postoperative flatus after surgery),incidence of postoperative deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the lower limbs, and length of postoperative hospital stay were compared between the two groups. The family members' degree of satisfaction with nursing was also compared. Results Before the intervention, there were no statistically significant differences in SAS and SDS scores be-tween the two groups (P>0.05).After the intervention,SAS and SDS scores were lower in both groups compared to be-fore the intervention, and lower in the observation group compared to the control group, with statistically significant differ-ences (P<0.05).The observation group had shorter gastrointestinal function recovery time and length of hospital stay than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05).The incidence of DVT was significantly lower in the observation group compared to the control group (P<0.05).The overall degree of satisfaction with nursing among the family members of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Continuous nursing intervention can effectively promote the negative emotions of patients, increase family members' degree of satisfaction with nursing, reduce the incidence of postoperative complications, promote postoperative recovery, and short-en length of hospital stay.It is worth promoting in clinical practice.
