Application of the family empowerment-supervised follow-up nursing model in continuing nursing after hypospadias surgery in children
Objective To explore the effectiveness of the family empowerment-supervised follow-up nursing model in continu-ing nursing after hypospadias surgery in children,to provide a basis for clinical nursing decision-making.Methods A total of 126 children with hypospadias who underwent surgical treatment at the Children's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from August 2019 to January 2022 were selected as the study participants and were randomly assigned to an observation group and a control group, with 63 cases in each group. The control group received routine nursing, while the observation group received interventions based on the family empowerment-supervised follow-up nursing model in addition to routine nursing. The impact of the two intervention methods on the children's pain levels, behavior, postoperative recovery, and the care capacity of the main caregivers was compared, and the incidence of complications was recorded. Results Before inter-vention,there was no statistically significant difference in pressure flow rate and free urinary flow rate between the two groups of children(P>0.05).The pressure flow rate in both groups of children was significantly reduced after interven-tion,and the free urinary flow rate was significantly increased, with the observation group having a significantly lower pres-sure flow rate and higher free urinary flow rate than the control group(P<0.05).Before intervention,no statistically sig-nificant difference was noted in the crying, facial expression, consolability, leg condition, and trunk activity scores of the two groups of children on the Children's Behavioral Pain Rating Scale(P>0.05).The subscale scores were significantly re-duced in both groups, with the observation group having lower scores than the control group(P<0.05).Before interven-tion,no statistically significant difference was observed in the scores of the Child Behavior Checklist for withdrawal,depres-sion,social problems,compulsivity,rule-breaking,somatic complaints, social withdrawal, hyperactivity, and aggression subscales between the two groups(P>0.05).The subscale scores were significantly reduced in both groups after the inter-vention,with the observation group having lower scores than the control group(P<0.05).Before intervention,no signifi-cant difference was found in the scores of the Chinese version of the Family Caregiver Capacity Scale for subscales of adap-ting to the caregiving role, coping and providing assistance, managing personal emotions, adjusting personal life and caregiv-ing needs, and assessing family and social resources between the two groups of caregivers(P>0.05).The subscale scores were significantly reduced in both groups after the intervention, with the observation group having lower scores than the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(3.18%vs.14.29%;P<0.05).Conclusion The application of the family empowerment-supervised follow-up nursing model can effectively improve children's misbehavior after hypospadias surgery, reduce postoperative pain,pro-mote the care capacity of the main caregivers, strengthen postoperative recovery in children, and reduce the incidence of postoperative complications, making it worth promoting and applying in clinical practice.
