Predictive value of LXA4,SAA,and ECP levels in the prognosis of children with cough variant asthma
Objective To explore the predictive value of serum lipoxin A4(LXA4),serum amyloid A(SAA),and eosinophil cationic protein(ECP)levels in the prognosis of children with cough variant asthma(CVA),aiming to provide clinical treat-ment references. Methods This study selected 114 children with CVA treated at Yan'an People's Hospital between January 2020 and October 2023 as the observation group, and 82 healthy children during the same period as the control group.Lev-els of LXA4,SAA,ECP,peak expiratory flow(PEF),and fractional exhaled nitric oxide(FeNO)were compared between the two groups.Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the relationship between LXA4,SAA,ECP levels and PEF,FeNO.Based on prognosis, the children were allocated to a good prognosis subgroup(n=80)and a poor prognosis group(n=34).LXA4,SAA,ECP levels,PEF,and FeNO were compared between these two groups. The predictive effi-cacy of serum LXA4,SAA,and ECP levels for prognosis was analyzed using ROC curves. Results The observation group had significantly higher levels of LXA4,SAA,ECP,and FeNO,and lower PEF than the control group(P<0.05).Pear-son correlation analysis showed that serum LXA4,SAA,and ECP levels in CVA children were negatively correlated with PEF and positively correlated with FeNO(P<0.05).The good prognosis group had significantly lower levels of LXA4,SAA,ECP,and FeNO,and higher PEF compared to the poor prognosis group(P<0.05).The ROC curve analysis indica-ted that LXA4,SAA,and ECP levels have high predictive value for the prognosis of CVA children(AUC>0.7).Conclu-sion Children with CVA have elevated levels of serum LXA4,SAA,ECP,and FeNO,and decreased PEF.LXA4,SAA,and ECP levels have high predictive value for prognosis and can be used to assess disease severity.
