Clinical efficacy observation of press needle and embedded needle therapy for sudden hearing loss
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of press needle and embedded needle combined with medication for the treatment of sudden hearing loss, aiming to provide a reference for clinical treatment plans. Methods A total of 368 pa-tients with sudden hearing loss who were hospitalized at the Department of Otolaryngology &Head and Neck Surgery of Nanchong Central Hospital from November 2020 to November 2023 were selected as study subjects.Patients were allocated to a control group(receiving standard Western medicine treatment during hospitalization)and an experimental group(re-ceiving press needle and embedded needle therapy in addition to standard treatment). The clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared.Further subgroup analysis was conducted based on audiogram type, degree of hearing loss, and patient age to evaluate the efficacy of press needle and embedded needle therapy. Results The overall response rate in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group(74.39%vs.60.66%;P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no significant difference in average hearing threshold between the two groups(P>0.05);however,after treatment, both groups showed a reduction in average hearing threshold(P<0.05),with a more significant reduction observed in the experimental group(P<0.05).Among patients with total deafness, the response rate was 63.38%in the experimental group and 41.46%in the control group, showing a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).For patients with profound hearing loss, the response rate was 63.75%in the experimental group and 45.24%in the control group, also showing a sta-tistically significant difference(P<0.05).Among elderly patients, the response rate was 79.82%in the experimental group and 62.79%in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Post-treatment,average hear-ing threshold decreased in the total deafness, profound hearing loss, and elderly subgroups, with the experimental group showing a more significant reduction compared to the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The press needle and embed-ded needle therapy combined with medication is an effective treatment for sudden hearing loss, particularly providing superi-or results for patients with profound hearing loss, total deafness,or elderly patients compared to conventional treatments.
