Current status of burnout and its influencing factors in patients with type 2 diabetes
Objective To understand the current status of burnout in patients with type 2 diabetes and to explore its influen-cing factors,providing a theoretical basis for subsequent clinical interventions.Methods Convenience sampling was used to select patients with type 2 diabetes hospitalized in a grade A tertiary hospital in Anhui Province from October 2023 to March 2024 as the participants of the survey.A general information questionnaire,the Chinese version of the Burnout Syndrome Scale Ⅱ,the Diabetes Self-Management Behavior Scale,the Chinese version of the Psychological Resilience Scale,the Social Support Rating Scale,the Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire,and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale were used for the survey.The influencing factors of burnout in patients with type 2 diabetes were analyzed.Results The score of the Chi-nese version of the Burnout Syndrome Scale Ⅱ for the surveyed participants was(13.31±7.04)points,with 40.77%of the participants having moderate burnout and 21.25%having severe burnout.Statistically significant differences were noted in the scores of the Chinese version of the Burnout Syndrome Scale Ⅱ among the surveyed participants with different genders,ages,educational levels,marital statuses,occupations,family average monthly income,medical insurance participation,du-ration of diabetes,diabetes complications,past medical history,history of hypoglycemia in the past year,average daily medication intake,and body mass index(P<0.05).Regression analysis results indicated that social support,confrontation and resignation medical coping styles,psychological resilience,sleep quality,duration of diabetes,and educational level are influencing factors of burnout in patients with type 2 diabetes(P<0.05).Conclusion The level of burnout in patients with type 2 diabetes remains moderate.Medical staff should pay attention to patients with a diabetes duration of less than 1 year and those with lower educational levels,and develop personalized intervention strategies and continuous nursing plans for them to improve their level of burnout.
