Retrospective analysis of the clinical efficacy of anti-Demodex treatment in chronic spontaneous urticaria with rosacea
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of ornidazole anti-Demodex treatment in chronic spontaneous urticaria with rosacea, aiming to provide a reference for clinical decision-making.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 124 patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria and rosacea positive for Demodex, who were treated with ornidazole anti-Demodex treatment at the Outpatient Department of Dermatology of the 940 th Hospital of Joint Logistic Support Force of PLA from February 2014 to February 2023.The therapeutic effects were assessed by comparing the 7-day urticaria activity score(UAS7),rosacea clinical score, and symptom score reduction index(SSRI)before treatment and af-ter 4 weeks,8 weeks, and 12 weeks of anti-Demodex treatment. Results The results of repeated measures ANOVA showed statistically significant differences in UAS7 and rosacea clinical scores at different time points(P<0.05).At the 4 th,8 th,and 12 th weeks of treatment, the overall response rates of clinical efficacy for chronic spontaneous urticaria were 78.23%,80.65%,and 91.13%,respectively,and the overall response rates of clinical efficacy for rosacea were 91.13%,94.35%,and 92.74%,respectively.The trend chi-square test results indicated that with the increase of observation time, the overall response rate of treatment for chronic spontaneous urticaria demonstrated a gradual upward trend(χ2trend=7.412,P<0.05);no such trend was found for the treatment of rosacea(χ2trend=0.239,P>0.05).The correlation analysis results showed that the UAS7 score was negatively correlated with the clinical observation time(rs=-0.727,P<0.05),and the rosacea clinical score was negatively correlated with the clinical observation time(rs=-0.584,P<0.05).Conclusion Ornidazole anti-Demodex treatment may be effective for chronic spontaneous urticaria, and Demodex infection may be asso-ciated with chronic spontaneous urticaria.
