A review of clinically appropriate screening and assessment methods for dysphagia after stroke
Dysphagia substantially affects the life safety and quality of life of patients after stroke. This article summarizes clinically appropriate and easily implementable screening and assessment methods for dysphagia after stroke. In clinical prac-tice,these methods can be used for preliminary screening.Patients with positive results and those with complex conditions can be further evaluated using the video fluoroscopic swallowing study(VFSS)or fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallo-wing(FEES)to more accurately examine the condition of dysphagia after stroke. This article helps clinical medical workers quickly master the operation of swallowing function assessment methods for stroke patients,as well as the current status and trends in this field. Moreover, medical institutions at all levels should coordinate and cooperate, apply evidence-based medical methods, and jointly design and verify localized screening pathways and comprehensive evaluation plans for dyspha-gia after stroke,to more reasonably and efficiently screen for dysphagia and better serve patients.
