Treatment of Heavy Metal Waste water with Waste Concrete
A new method of separating calcium silicate hydrate(C-S-H)gel from waste concrete was established. The large specific surface area and high porosity of C-S-H gel were used to treat heavy metal wastewater. The effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, stirring intensity and other parameters on the removal of heavy metals from industrial wastewater were investigated in the process of adsorption of heavy metals by C-S-H gel.The results showed that the optimal conditions for the removal of heavy metals from industrial wastewater by C-S-H gel were:reaction temperature 60℃,reaction time 30min,stirring intensity 300r/min.The adsorption capacity of C-S-H gel for heavy metals Cd,Cr,Cu,Hg,Ni,and Pb was 20.0,22.5,15.0,20.0,17.5,12.5mg/g,respectively.Under the optimal reaction conditions, the removal rate of all heavy metals was more than 98%.The method has opened up a new path for the large-scale resource utilization of massive waste concrete and the harmless treatment of heavy metal elements in industrial wastewater, achieving the goal of using waste to treat waste.
