A Study on the Path of Social Networks to Identity Construction of Community for the Chinese Nation Among Overseas Chinese in the New Era
Identity is a process of psychological development.The identity of Community for the Chinese Nation among overseas Chinese has gone through the process of individual self-identity,in-group identity and common in-group identity.Identity is also a process of construction,and the social network is an important path to the construction of Community for the Chinese Nation among overseas Chinese.According to the process of identity,two questions need to be answered concerning the path of social network to the construction of Community for the Chinese Nation among overseas Chinese in the new era:one is how the social network constructs the self-identity and in-group identity for overseas Chinese;the other is how the social network constructs the identity of Community for the Chinese Nation among overseas Chinese.To be specific,self-identity serves as the starting point,with in-group identity as the intermediary,and common in-group identity as the category representation.Therefore,upgrading the in-group identity of overseas Chinese to the common in-group identity is the key to the construction of Community for the Chinese Nation among overseas Chinese.This requires us to expand the breadth of identity by forming a common in-group and enlarging group boundaries,enhance the strength of identity by promoting cross-ethnic interactions,building a common in-group network and forming an interlocking network structure,advance the depth of identity by acquiring interpersonal credit embedded in the network,and increase the strength of identity by constructing the national space of social networks.
