A Study on Mathematical and Physical Culture in Ancient Murals of Shanxi——Take the Murals in Fenyang Godness Temple and the Tomb Murals in Pingtannao Village of Yangquan as Examples
This paper breaks the discipline barrier of mural research and studies its image value with mural as the carrier.By applying warburg's"Good Neighbor Principle"and Panovsky's"Three-level Interpretation Structure",this paper interprets the murals of the Notre Dame Temple in Fenyang and the tomb of Pingnaocun Village in Yangquan from three aspects:the analysis of the former iconography, the analysis of the iconography and the interpretation of iconography, and deciphers the relevant scientific information contained in the tiles and the architectural abutment images in Shanxi traditional murals,so as to understand the scientific quality of the mural creators and spy out the"painting"and"arithmetic"reflected by them in the Song Dynasty. In a word, the study of mathematical culture of Shanxi ancient murals from the perspective of iconology can make up for the lack of this research and provide new ideas, which has important methodological demonstration value and theoretical and practical significance.
