摘要

亨利·蒂扎德是20世纪最重要的战略科学家之一,他在战时科技研究相关领域的工作尤为突出.蒂扎德此前一直从事化学研究,在"一战"爆发后致力于国防事业,"二战"前夕及战时曾领导雷达研究与原子弹早期调研,就战时军事计划建言献策,使盟国在空战中取得了重要的优势.蒂扎德在雷达制造以及此后关于核武器发展方面所扮演的角色,成了英国政府首席科学顾问制度的雏形.英国处境愈发绝望之时,蒂扎德提议将所有的技术都秘密交给美国以换取合作,而这一豪赌为英美两国合作研发原子弹奠定了基础,也成为其他国家和机构之间的科技交流的典范.

Abstract

Henry Tizard was one of the most important strategic scientists of the 20th century,particularly noted for his contributions to wartime scientific research.Initially a chemist,Tizard dedicated himself to national defense after the outbreak of World War I.On the eve of World War Ⅱ and during the war,he led radar research and early investigations into atomic bomb development,providing strategic advice that gave the Allies a crucial advantage in aerial combat.Tizard's role in radar development and subsequent nuclear weapons advancement laid the groundwork for the establishment of the Chief Scientific Adviser position in the UK government.As Britain's situation became increasingly desperate,Tizard proposed sharing all technological secrets with the United States in exchange for cooperation.This bold move not only paved the way for Anglo-American collaboration in developing the atomic bomb but also set a precedent for scientific exchange between nations and institutions.
