Calculation and Spatiotemporal Characteristics Analysis of Net Carbon Sink of Agriculture in Guangxi
The green and low-carbon development of agriculture is a fundamental requirement for achieving harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. It is also an important aspect of ensuring the goals of sustainable agricultural development, building a strong agricultural nation, and realizing the modernization of Chinese agriculture.Taking the agricultural industry in Guangxi as the research object, this study comprehensively utilizes the carbon emission coefficient method and the carbon sink coefficient method to calculate the agricultural carbon emissions, agricultural carbon absorption, and net carbon sink in 14 prefecture-level cities in Guangxi from 2003 to 2021,and further analyzes their spatiotemporal variation characteristics. The results show that the total agricultural carbon emissions in Guangxi from 2003 to 2021 exhibited a"W"-shaped decreasing trend, with an overall decrease of 12.77%.In 2021,the agricultural carbon emissions were approximately 11.9026 million tons, with the carbon emissions from cultivated land ecosystems, planting, and animal husbandry accounting for 29.9%,44.3%,and 25.8%respectively.The total agricultural carbon absorption in Guangxi from 2003 to 2021 showed a stable increasing trend, with an overall increase of 133.22%,and sugarcane being the most important carbon sink crop. The net carbon sink in Guangxi agriculture has continued to increase from 2003 to 2021,turning from negative to positive since 2007.Overall,Guangxi has achieved agricultural carbon neutrality.Based on the above research findings and in conjunction with the trend characteristics of agricultural carbon sequestration changes, further recommendations are proposed to continuously promote the transformation of the planting industry towards green production, optimize the management of livestock and poultry farming, promote the utilization of agricultural waste resources, enhance the carbon sequestration of crop biomass, and promote measures to reduce emissions and increase carbon sinks in agriculture. These measures aim to further promote the achievement of China's"dual carbon"goals in agriculture.
