Objective To analyze the source of a cluster food poisoning incident caused by Vibrio parahaemolyticus(VP),and provide evidence for avoiding similar food poisoning events. Methods Conduct pathogenic testing on anal swabs, food samples, and environmental smear samples of contacts collected from the scene of the food poisoning incident.Virulence gene identification, serological typing, and pulsed field gel electrophoresis(PFGE)molecular typing were performed on the isolated Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Results Among the 38 samples that were collected,Vibrio parahaemolyticus was detected in 21 of the samples(19 anal swabs and 2 environmental smear samples),with a detection rate of 55.3%.The 21 isolated Vibrio parahaemolyticus serotypes were all O3:K6,and their tlh/tdh virulence genes were positive.PFGE molecular typing showed high homology(homology between 98.7%and 100.0%).Conclusions Based on the combined epidemiological investigation results and laboratory test results,it was determined that the pathogen causing the group food poisoning incident was Vibrio parahaemolyticus type O3:K6,which carrying tlh/tdh gene.It is recommended that regulatory authorities strengthen health supervision to avoid similar incidents from happening.
