Objective To investigate the influencing factors of cardiac structure and function changes in male drinkers in high-altitude areas, and to provide reference data for the study of the impact of drinking on heart disease. Methods From January 2020 to December 2020,male citizens aged 35 to 60 years who went to the Plateau Physical Examination Center of Qinghai Provincial Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Hospital for routine healthy check-up and were selected as the research subjects.Questionnaire surveys, routine physical examinations, and echocardiographic examinations were performed. Results A total of 660 subjects were included in this study, with an age of(48.23±5.00)years old.Among them,99 subjects were in the excessive drinking group,308 were in the moderate drinking group, and 253 were in the non-drinking or quit-drinking group. There were significant differences in weight(F=3.706,P<0.025)and BMI(F=5.678,P<0.004),mainly in that the weight and BMI of the moderate drinking group were higher than the non-drinking or quit-drinking group. There were significant differences in systolic, diastolic, and mean blood pressure among different drinking frequency groups(P<0.05),mainly in that the systolic, diastolic, and mean blood pressure of the excessive drinking group were higher than the non-drinking or quit-drinking group. There was a significant difference in the anteroposterior diameter of the left atrium between the different drinking frequency groups(F=4.179,P=0.016),which the anteroposterior diameter of the left atrium in the excessive drinking group and the moderate drinking group was significantly higher than the non-drinking or quit-drinking group. The anteroposterior diameter of the left atrium was significantly positively correlated with blood pressure and BMI.Conclusions The left atrial anteroposterior diameter of male drinkers in Qinghai province increased, indicating that drinking had a certain impact on the left heart structure.Drinkers have higher blood pressure and BMI than non-drinkers.Many factors such as snoring and environmental hypoxia may be involved in changes in heart structure. In the future,we should pay attention to drinking behavior in high-altitude areas, strengthen health education and disease management for drinkers in the area, improve residents'awareness of the harm of excessive drinking, and consciously reduce alcohol intake.
