Research on Cooperation Mechanism of Embedded Innovation Ecosystem
Embedded innovation ecosystems enable core companies to strategize their innovation layouts, capture competitive advantages, and aim for future leadership.Establishing cooperative relationships with member companies and introducing more participants are essential to this process. At the same time, core companies need to maintain control, speed up collaborative innovation, and enhance the quality of cooperation. The cooperation mechanism,a vital aspect of building relationships within the ecosystem, reflects the internal interest and incentive mechanisms. To manage breakthrough innovations in embedded innovation ecosystems, development strategies were explored from the perspectives of core companies, member companies, and government regulatory authorities.Based on the characteristics of core companies in embedded innovation ecosystems strategically leading and providing necessary funding and other complementary resources to member companies, the incentives of three cooperation mechanisms were examined from the perspective of core companies. These mechanisms were non-equity contracts(including debt),non-controlling investments(low percentage investments),and controlling investments. The evolution of various parameters to illustrate the outcomes was simulated. The findings indicate that non-controlling investment mechanisms are most beneficial for core companies.Furthermore, core companies introduce the"tit-for-tat"strategy as an additional incentive mechanism for non-controlling investment cooperation, which can form effective incentives for member companies and maximize the interests of core companies. Finally, practical implications are provided from the perspectives of core enterprises, member enterprises and government regulatory authorities.
