Piya is a specialized philological work on names and objects written by Lu Dian of the Northern Song Dynasty.This book has made supplementation to Erya by adding more plants and animals and revision of explanatory contents.Regarding the supplementary content,Piya offers detailed interpretations of the animals and plants already included in Erya from the perspectives of their appearances,characteristics,and the origins of their names.The features of Piya's supplementing content of Erya are twofold:first,it investigates the origin of the names to clarify their meanings,second,it elucidates meanings through interrelated explanations.Based on this,this paper summarizes Piya contributions in sup-plementing the content of Erya.
