The Cooperation for Salt Transportation in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region during the 1940s——A Case Study of the Southern District Cooperative Transport Team
In the 1940s,the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region was under blockade,and the transportation and sale of salt ensured the self-sufficiency of the region's finances.To guarantee timely transportation of salt,facilitate people's transportation,and enhance transport capacity,the Party and government encouraged the masses to organize and develop a cooperation for salt transportation.Under the leadership of the Party and government,the transport team of the Southern District Cooperative Society underwent three major developmental stages,accumulating many valuable experi-ences.It broke the limitation that salt transport in the border region was solely carried out by individuals and became a model for cooperative salt transport throughout the region.
