The study of local chronicles is not an insignificant pursuit.Published in the sixteenth year of the Jiajing era(1527)during the Ming Dynasty,Qin'an Zhi,the Chronicle of Qin'an with eight sections in nine volumes,meticulously documents the administrative structure,geography,officials,ritual systems,education,notable figures,agricultural ta-xes,and literature of the region at that time.Citing classics and histories and focusing on key points,Qin'an Zhi stands out among local chronicles of the Ming Dynasty.As the author of Qin'an Zhi,Hu Zuanzong,born in Qin'an,was a re-nowned official and scholar during the transition from the Zhengde to the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty,known for his literary and political contributions.However,current research indicates that Hu and his works have not received due at-tention from the academic community.As one of China's renowned local chronicles,the Qin'an Zhi holds significant val-ue both in its structural design and content.Analyzing this book through the theoretical lens of chronicle studies allows for a deeper understanding of the unique aspects of Hu and his work.Moreover,it enables exploration of the positive im-pacts this work could bring to the construction of the ancient city of Qin'an today and to the development of China's local chronicle system.
