A Review of Changes in Gut Microbiota After Drowning
The inference of postmortem interval(PMI)is one of the biggest challenges in the forensic field. The use of advanced technologies such as diatom testing, imaging, molecular biology, and artificial intelligence has greatly improved the accuracy of PMI judgment, from the traditional inference of postmortem corpses to the current one. After human death, the gut microbiota will undergo drastic changes. Therefore, analyzing the changes in gut microbiota can provide new ideas for forensic identification.By analyzing gut microbiota, the relationship between PMI and gut microbiota is established, thereby improving the accuracy of PMI and greatly expanding the scope of gut microbiota research. This paper provides a brief review of the temporal changes in gut microbiota of drowned corpses, aiming to explore the current situation and application prospects of gut microbiota in forensic practice for inferring the time of death.
